UPDATES

Dear DAD members-
I would like to thank you for your involvement and membership in our society. I have been honored to be your president for the 2022/2023 year. Although we are a small specialty state society, we should be proud of our recent recognition as a 2023 MODEL STATE AWARD recipient from the American Academy of Dermatology! Congratulations to all of us!
The award is based on our society's ability to demonstrate excellence in education, community engagement, patient support, legislative advocacy and promotion of our specialty of Dermatology. Many of you work hard behind the scenes in collaboration with the AAD and MSD. 
We continue to work to educate and inform our membership about issues related to the practice of Dermatology and the challenges we are faced with. It is especially important that we continue in our advocacy roles to support our patients and their rights regarding truth in advertising and honesty in education. Our patients deserve to have clear, factual information regarding the training of their healthcare provider, who may or may not have the educational training and certification to be called a "Dermatologist". It is now more important than ever to protect our specialty- especially with regards to scope of practice. We, as a group, need to emphasize the importance of our skill set to patients, legislators, and payors. We are in this together. Thank you for your membership and participation. Our spring meeting will be in May- likely in southern Delaware. Stay tuned for more information.
